Woodworking Drill Bit Safety Precautions

Time:2024-10-07

The drill bit is primarily designed for woodworking drilling machines. When using it, pay attention to the drill's rotational direction, which can be either left-handed (L) or right-handed (R). This drill bit can create standard, smooth inner holes in various composite boards and solid wood. It is mainly used by furniture manufacturers for making suites, custom wardrobes, TV cabinets, kitchen cabinets, computer desks, and more. It is commonly used in line drilling machines, bench drills, hinge machines, and some machining center equipment.

Before starting work, check for any signs of electrical leakage, and wear insulated gloves. Use rubber-soled shoes or stand on a wooden board while operating the drilling machine.

The drill bit must be securely tightened. Large electric drills should be operated with both hands on the handle, and the drill rod must be held vertically. As the hole nears completion, apply gentle pressure to the drill to prevent jamming or breaking the bit.

When drilling from the bottom upwards, use your hand or a lever to support the drill handle; do not use your shoulder for support. When drilling downwards, do not use your foot to support the drill bit; keep your foot at least 20 cm away from the bit.

While the electric drill is in operation, adjust the alignment to the hole using the drill handle; do not use your hands to hold the drill bit against the hole.

If any unusual noises are heard during operation, stop using the drill immediately. After finishing work, disconnect the power and properly store the wires.
